Cookie policy

This page explains what this website stores on your device, why it is stored, and how you can change your choices at any time.

Last updated: 1 September 2026

Cookies are small pieces of information that a website asks your browser to store. Some websites also store information in other ways, such as local storage. This page covers both.

We keep this to a minimum. The items below are all that this website stores on your device.

What we store

Neither of the items below is used to build a profile of you, and neither follows you to other websites.

We use a service called CookieScript to manage cookie choices on this website. It records your choice on our behalf. It does not use your choice for its own purposes.

The banner itself is loaded from CookieScript rather than from this website, so your browser contacts them when a page opens. This happens before you make a choice, because the banner cannot appear otherwise.

Your cookie choices

When you choose which cookies to allow, we store that choice so that we can respect it. Without it, we would have to ask you again on every page.

Your accessibility settings

This site lets you change how it looks. You can reduce motion, make text larger, increase contrast and underline links. We store your settings so that they still apply next time.

We do not need to ask your permission for either of these. Both store something you have chosen, and storing it is how we give you what you asked for.

We do not use advertising cookies. We do not track you across other websites.

Your choices

When you first visit, you are asked which cookies you are willing to allow. Optional cookies are switched off until you turn them on. Nothing optional is stored unless you choose it.

You can change your mind at any time. Select the cookie settings button in the bottom corner of any page. Your new choice applies straight away.

The cookie settings panel offers several categories. At present nothing on this website uses the optional categories, so choosing them makes no difference to what is stored. We will update this page if that changes.

You can also delete stored information through your browser settings. If you delete your saved choice, you will be asked again on your next visit.

Emails and text messages

This section is about the emails and text messages we send to members, group secretaries and brokers. It is not about this website.

Our emails contain a small image that tells us when a message has been opened. Links in our emails and text messages carry a reference that tells us when a link has been selected.

This information is linked to your contact details. It means we can see whether a particular person opened a message, and which links they selected. We use it to understand which messages are useful, so that we can improve them.

Every email includes an unsubscribe link. Using it stops our marketing emails. You will still receive messages about your policy, because those are sent separately. If you object to this tracking, please contact us using the details below. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information, including your right to object.

More information

For how we handle personal information more broadly, read our privacy policy.

We review this page whenever we change what the website stores. If you have a question about anything here, please contact us.

  • Call us on 01202 756 350, Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm. We are closed on public holidays. If you call outside these hours you can leave a message, and we will call you back on the next working day.
  • Email us at info@fhi.co.uk.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please tell us first so that we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator for data protection.
